AGBU LA Choir Brings "Love & Homeland" to Orange County in Support of the Memorial

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM, the AGBU LA Choir will perform its "Love & Homeland" concert at Stambolian Hall in Costa Mesa, with proceeds benefiting the Orange County Armenian Genocide Memorial at the Irvine Great Park. The OC Saturday School Children's Choir will join as featured guests.

Founded in 2018, the AGBU LA Choir is a community ensemble open to anyone who loves Armenian music, and it has earned a devoted following across Southern California for performances that pair musical discipline with warmth. Choir Conductor Nektar Mirakyan, trained in choral conducting at the Yerevan State Conservatory, leads the singers, accompanied by a musical ensemble led by Shushan Hakobyan. "Love & Homeland" was presented in Pasadena last November, and we are delighted that the choir is now bringing it to Orange County.

The theme could not be more fitting. The memorial's central figure, by sculptor Brittany Ryan of Laguna Beach, is a mother carrying her child, surrounded by krunks, the cranes that in Armenian tradition carry the longing for a lost homeland. An evening of songs of love and homeland, sung by adults and children together, speaks to the same continuity the memorial is meant to honor.

The memorial will be the first public Armenian Genocide memorial in Orange County, with installation scheduled for Spring 2028 in the Heart of the Park. The OC Armenian Genocide Memorial Committee thanks AGBU, now in its 120th year, the AGBU LA Choir, and the children and teachers of the OC Saturday School for dedicating this evening to the project.
